▸📊 How to choose your NTRP rating
2.5 — Beginner
Learning to judge where the ball is going. Can sustain a short rally with other beginners. Working on basic forehand and backhand strokes. Familiar with court positions for singles and doubles.
3.0 — Advanced Beginner
Fairly consistent on medium-paced shots but not confident with all strokes. Most common doubles formation is one up, one back. Starting to develop approach shots and net play.
3.5 — Intermediate
Consistent on moderate shots with directional control. Has improved footwork and is developing teamwork in doubles. Can sustain a rally and is starting to force errors. Reliable first serve and developing a second serve.
4.0 — Advanced Intermediate
Dependable strokes with directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand. Uses lobs, overheads, approach shots, and volleys with success. Developing spin and placement on serves. Aggressive net play in doubles with good teamwork.
4.5 — Advanced
Starting to master power and spin. Can handle pace. Sound footwork. Can control depth of shots and hit winners. Serve is a weapon with good placement. Developing a complete game and can vary strategies.
5.0 — Expert
Has good shot anticipation and frequently has an outstanding shot or weapon. Can regularly hit winners. Can adjust game and compete with a variety of styles. First and second serves are powerful and placed with control.
Tip: If you're between two levels, pick the lower one. It's better to be pleasantly surprised than overmatched. Your rating can be adjusted later.

1. Open marksmatches.org in Safari
2. Tap the ⋯ menu (three dots) at the bottom right of the screen
3. Tap the Share button — the square icon with an upward arrow (⬆️)
4. Scroll down the share menu until you see Add to Home Screen — tap it
5. You'll see a preview with the name "Mark's Matches" — tap Add in the top right corner
6. The 🎾 icon will appear on your home screen — tap it anytime to open the app full-screen
💡 Can't find the three dots? Make sure you're in Safari (not Chrome). If the toolbar is hidden, scroll up slightly or tap the bottom of the screen to reveal it.
Android (Chrome)
1. Open marksmatches.org in Chrome
2. Tap the ⋮ menu (three dots) in the top right corner
3. Tap Add to Home screen
4. Tap Add to confirm
5. The 🎾 icon will appear on your home screen
The app will open full-screen from your home screen — no browser bar. It's the same website, just easier to access. You'll always get the latest version automatically.
